NorthPoint Communications Group Inc. provides high speed network and data transport services. Its services allow Internet service providers, broadband data service providers, and long distance and local phone companies to meet the information needs of small and medium-sized businesses, people who work in home offices, and telecommuters. The company was founded in 1997 and is based in Emeryville, California. In January 2001, NorthPoint filed for chapter 11 protection under the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. NorthPoint Communications Group Inc. was formerly a subsidiary of AT&T Corp. On 6/12/2001, NorthPoint Communications Group Inc.'s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing was converted to Chapter 7 Liquidation by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California, San Francisco Division.
