Frequently asked questions

Short, honest answers to what investors ask most. Where it helps, we link to the deeper detail.

Product, Fair Value and Methodology

What the tool does and how a fair value is built.

What is Fair Value Calculator?

Fair Value Calculator estimates what a stock is really worth from its fundamentals, not its daily price. For about 35,000+ stocks worldwide it shows a fair value, a quality score and how much evidence backs each estimate, so you can spot over- and undervalued companies at a glance. See the methodology →

How is a stock's fair value calculated?

We estimate a company's intrinsic worth from 21 independent valuation models running on its reported financials, then blend them into one figure weighted by how much trustworthy data backs it. That way the result never hangs on a single formula. See the methodology →

What does "fair value" mean?

Fair value is an estimate of a company's intrinsic worth from its fundamentals, independent of the share price. Trading well below it, a stock looks undervalued; above it, the valuation looks stretched.

Why do you use several valuation models?

Every single model has blind spots. Blending 21 independent models gives a more balanced result, and no single optimistic assumption can dominate it. See the methodology →

What is the difference between fair value and an analyst price target?

An analyst price target forecasts where the price might go in about twelve months and usually hugs today's price. Our fair value estimates intrinsic worth from the fundamentals and may deliberately diverge from the price. That gap is the whole point.

What does the Quality Score show?

The Quality Score rates business quality from 0 to 100 using about 25 fundamental factors such as profitability, growth, balance-sheet strength and returns on capital, independent of price. It keeps a cheap price from being mistaken for a good business.

What does the Evidence status mean?

Every estimate carries an evidence status: high, medium or low. It shows how much trustworthy data and how many applicable models back the fair value. Low evidence is a flag for deeper research, not a signal on its own. See the evidence →

Free, Pro, Account and Usage

What is free, what Pro adds and how to manage your account.

What can I use for free?

Browsing, searching and valuing individual stocks is free and needs no sign-up. For any stock you get the fair value, quality score, evidence status and the bear, base and bull range, plus a free watchlist for a handful of names.

Do I need an account?

Not to browse and value individual stocks. A free account is needed for a watchlist across devices and for email alerts. Sign-in works through an emailed magic link, no password.

What additional features are included with Pro?

Pro (€9.90 per month, first month €1) adds the full screener across 35,000+ stocks, watchlist alerts when a holding turns over- or undervalued, diversification and market-valuation checks, and every quality factor. You can cancel anytime. See Pro →

How does the free trial work?

You can try Pro with the full feature set. The first month is €1, then €9.90 per month. You can cancel anytime before it renews. See Pro →

Can I connect Fair Value Calculator to ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. Through our MCP server, AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity can resolve a stock, fetch a preview and a fair-value verdict, and compare two stocks. Set up integrations →

Data, Trust, Security and Limitations

Where the numbers come from, how fresh they are and where the limits lie.

Where does the financial data come from?

Fundamentals, financial statements and prices come from a professional financial-data provider, alongside companies' own regulatory filings. From that raw data we compute fair value and quality ourselves. Data & Trust →

How fresh are prices and fundamentals?

Prices refresh every trading day after the close, fundamentals update as new filings arrive, and fair values are recomputed daily. Every stock page shows the date its fair value is from.

What should I do if a number looks wrong?

Drop us a line at [email protected] with the ticker and the figure that looks off. We check the source and correct or withhold the valuation. Automated plausibility checks already catch many outliers upfront.

Is fair value a buy recommendation?

No. A fair value is an analytical estimate of what a business is worth, not advice to buy, hold or sell. It is a starting point for your own research. Nothing on the site is financial advice, and past results are no guarantee of future outcomes.

Can a fair value be wrong?

Yes. A fair value is a model estimate, not a certainty. It can be off when reported data contains errors, one-off items distort the result, or the business model, industry or interest-rate regime changes structurally. That is why we always show the evidence status and range.

Why are values missing for some stocks?

When the data is too thin or a plausibility check trips, we deliberately withhold a valuation rather than show an uncertain number. When in doubt, no figure beats a wrong one.

Are my watchlist and account data sold?

No. We do not sell your watchlist or account data. We use it to provide the features and, if you turn them on, to send email alerts. The details are in our privacy policy. Privacy →
