What the numbers show

The lowest sector median is 0.67 (Consumer Staples, 1,502 values), the highest 2.77 (Financials, 2,864 values).

That is a factor of 4.1 between the two: the same ratio means different things in different sectors, so compare within the industry.

The middle sector (Energy) has a median of 1.33; half of its 872 stocks sit between 0.45 and 2.89.
