Analysis
American Electric Power Company (AEP) currently trades at $125.26, while our model-based Fair Value estimate is $79.33, implying the stock looks roughly 36.7% overvalued today. We read business quality at 62/100 (solid quality), in the Utilities sector. Bear case: priced above our estimate, the market already discounts strong expectations. Bull case: above-average quality can justify a premium, the entry price still matters most (evidence: high).
Over the trailing twelve months, American Electric Power Company generated revenue of $22.4B at a net margin of 16.3%. Revenue grew 10.2% year over year. It earns a return on equity of 12.6%. Net debt stands at $50.0B. Fundamentals as of Jul 16, 2026
Our scenario range runs from $54.31 (bear case) to $125.11 (bull case); at $125.26, the current price sits above that range. Bear and bull are the same models run on conservative and optimistic assumptions (margins, growth, valuation multiples), so a plausible valuation range, not a price target. The share trades about 10% below its 52-week high and 28% above its 52-week low, currently above its 200-day average. For context, the median of 10 Utilities peers we cover trades at -27% fair-value upside, at -37%, AEP screens richer than that median.
Fair Value models
Each model estimates fair value its own way; the Fair Value above is the evidence-weighted blend. Evidence (0–100) measures how completely this model’s inputs are available: well-fed models carry more weight in the blend. The spread across models is intentional, each one stresses a different value driver; dividend models, for instance, come out structurally low when payout is small.

Widest divergence: Growth Earnings ($107.38) versus Economic Profit ($16.78). Highest evidence: Growth DCF (80).
