The company operates through Insurance Operations, Exzeo, Reciprocal Exchange Operations, and Real Estate segments. It provides homeowners' property and casualty insurance products; claim adjusting and processing services; turnkey insurance technology and operations solutions to property and casualty insurance carriers and its agents through the Exzeo platform; and SAMSTM, a web-based system designed to automate and streamline the process of managing insurance policies. The company also offers Harmony, a policy administration platform; ClaimColony, an end-to-end claims management platform; AtlasViewer, a mapping and data visualization platform. In addition, it is involved in reciprocal exchange operations; and developing and operating commercial properties for investment purposes. The company was formerly known as Homeowners Choice, Inc. and changed its name to HCI Group, Inc. in May 2013. HCI Group, Inc. was incorporated in 2006 and is headquartered in Tampa, Florida.
