What matters now

  • Weak quality (28/100) and above fair value at the same time, the margin of safety is missing on both counts.
  • Our model range runs from $29.83 (bear) to $49.86 (bull), base $38.35. The closer the price sits to the lower half, the larger the margin of safety.
  • Quality 28/100 (below-average quality) with medium evidence: read the verdict with care.

Analysis

Portland General Electric Company (POR) currently trades at $49.05, while our model-based Fair Value estimate is $38.35, implying the stock looks roughly 21.8% overvalued today. The Quality Score stands at 28/100 (below-average quality), in the Utilities sector. Bear case: priced above our estimate, the market already discounts strong expectations. Bull case: above-average quality can justify a premium, the entry price still matters most (evidence: medium).

Over the trailing twelve months, Portland General Electric Company generated revenue of $3.5B at a net margin of 7.1%. Revenue declined 5.3% year over year. It earns a return on equity of 6.3%. Net debt stands at $5.5B. Fundamentals as of Jul 19, 2026

Our scenario range runs from $29.83 (bear case) to $49.86 (bull case); at $49.05, the current price sits within that range. Bear and bull are the same models run on conservative and optimistic assumptions (margins, growth, valuation multiples), so a plausible valuation range, not a price target. The last reported earnings sit well below what analysts expect (earnings in transition, for example after write-downs or an earnings dip); whether the stock is cheap or expensive hinges on the expected recovery actually arriving. Read the fair value with that caveat. The share trades about 10% below its 52-week high and 29% above its 52-week low, currently above its 200-day average. For context, the median of 10 Utilities peers we cover trades at -27% fair-value upside, at -22%, POR screens cheaper than that median.

Fair Value models

Each model estimates fair value its own way; the Fair Value above is the evidence-weighted blend. Evidence (0–100) measures how completely this model’s inputs are available: well-fed models carry more weight in the blend. The spread across models is intentional, each one stresses a different value driver; dividend models, for instance, come out structurally low when payout is small.
