What matters now

  • The large discount to fair value meets weak quality (17/100). That raises the risk this is a value trap rather than a bargain.
  • The large gap to fair value rests on thin data (low evidence): fewer applicable models and a shorter history. Read it with extra caution.
  • A fairly wide model range ($0.5725 to $1.08) leaves room in how you read the outcome.

Analysis

CN Energy Group Inc (CNEY) currently trades at $0.5900, while our model-based Fair Value estimate is $0.8670, implying the stock looks roughly 47.0% undervalued today. The Quality Score stands at 17/100 (below-average quality), in the Basic Materials sector. Bull case: trading below our estimate, it may offer upside if the fundamentals hold. Bear case: a low price can be a value trap when quality is weak or the data is thin (evidence: low), always confirm before acting.

Over the trailing twelve months, CN Energy Group Inc generated revenue of $35.6M at a net margin of -31.3%. Revenue declined 2.4% year over year. It earns a return on equity of -11.2%. Net debt stands at $3.0M. Fundamentals as of Aug 19, 2026

Our scenario range runs from $0.5725 (bear case) to $1.08 (bull case); at $0.5900, the current price sits within that range. Bear and bull are the same models run on conservative and optimistic assumptions (margins, growth, valuation multiples), so a plausible valuation range, not a price target. For context, the median of 10 Basic Materials peers we cover trades at -59% fair-value upside, at 47%, CNEY screens cheaper than that median.

Fair Value models

Each model estimates fair value its own way; the Fair Value above is the evidence-weighted blend. Evidence (0–100) measures how completely this model’s inputs are available: well-fed models carry more weight in the blend. The spread across models is intentional, each one stresses a different value driver; dividend models, for instance, come out structurally low when payout is small.

Model Bear Bear = the cautious scenario: the same model computed with conservative anchors (lower growth, margins and valuation multiples). Together with Bull it frames a plausible valuation range, not a price target.BaseBull Bull = the optimistic scenario: the same model computed with favourable anchors (higher growth, margins and valuation multiples). Together with Bear it frames a plausible valuation range, not a price target. Evidence

All values are scores from 0 to 100 (100 = best against fixed, research-based bands), not percentages. The three market factors (momentum, 52-week proximity, low volatility) are displayed but carry zero weight in the headline number: market sentiment is not a business property.

How we calculate Fair Value

A separate quality layer scores the fundamentals. Every input is real reported data, nothing guessed.
